French Tennin Open?

You think I received one of these fancy invitations to the French Tennis Open at Roland Garros stadium like in 2006? Not at all! I simply went to the Paris Town hall where, during the whole open, they installed a giant screen (to follow the matches) and a tennis court (just like they install an ice rink in winter!)! I think the idea is pretty cool and very realistic (they even have ads around the court.). There is a lot going on in Paris at the moment, I will share all this with you, even though I have a tough week.

  1. Bless your heart, Eric ... You are always faithful to us!

Live feed of the French Open? Yet another clever idea in Paris. I love the way the city sprouts clever ideas year-round.

  2. Eric, I'm sorry you are having a bad week. I hope things improve. Thank you for still thinking of us. This is a great idea. Tennis is the only sport I have an interest in, but I haven't caught any of the games this year

  3. merci Eric - i just don't know where you find the time.

on a very sad note, i just heard about the air france plane...my heart goes out to all.

  5. Yes Maria, we're a bit in shock here because of this. Thank you for your concern.

  6. French Tennin Open LOOOL!!!
How cool to think of that, Eric. To do that! I agree with Parisian heart comment!
At my first glance, my heart really skipped a beat !!
So in 2006 you were there for the final ? That was Nadal vs Federer I guess but don't remember it precisely.
This year Nadal is already out so the final will be new and open! A Tennin outsider??

What do you mean by a tough week?
Hope you are fine as you told us here that you were a bit sick, yesterday.

  7. It is a clay court, after all, so it’s not surprising that there is enough flora growing near the net to warrant ball boys and, and.. flower girls?

  8. Eric...dig your title cameraman. I will have to be careful my "Teninitus" doesn't flare up again. ;-) My doctor told me to watch out for the Tenin ground game. I told him you were ruthless with your camera at the surface, Eric. "Yes doc, this guy is known to dive across the streets and rues of Paris like a Nikon-strapped Boris Becker. It's hard to NOT return to those photos at such angles. What am I to do?" His advice, enjoy his energetic service and just learn to live with your Teninitus...so, I took his advice.

  9. Tall Gary..."geh vorbei!" Dionne can sing it in any language, non? Merci.

  10. I have Teninitus too! It doesn't seem to affect my hearing, but sometimes it's constantly on my brain.

I hope your week gets easier, Eric. I never miss a post of yours, even if I don't comment. I'm grateful for my daily dose of Paris.

My heart is with those missing their loved ones tonight.

  13. I hope that Monica wasn't on that plane, Eric. I heard Brazil and Air France and had a cold shiver.

  14. Silly me, I just scrolled down and saw your message. Please give Monica a big hug for me when you see her.

  15. Love the title, Eric! Good idea to install the screen where more people can watch and feel like they're there.

A burning wreckage has been spotted in the sea along the route the plane took.

Of course there were many nationalities on board and I am equally sad for them all, but just heard one was an 11 year old British boy returning from his half term holiday to Paris then England. It's all so terrible isn't it. All those people, those families. Paris must be reeling with shock - so sorry.

  16. Eric, you got us in a spin, just like you to net a few good shots for us. I thought I'd lob in that backhanded compliment, although I did prepare it beforehand. If I get a load of grunts for this, serves me right.

    Love all.

PS Coltrane, 'Teninitus' - love it! Think we all experience the occasional twinge.

  19. Condolences to all the families and friends of those on the Air France flight from Brazil. It is heart breaking. . .

I have gone on a visit to Roland Garros a year or so ago and it was extremely interesting. When there are no matches ongoing, you can sign up for a guided tour offerred in many languages, see the stadiums, locker rooms, amazing media centers they have for the world press, tennis museum and more! They even offer tennis lessons for children!

  20. I was standing on this site just this past Saturday! They did a great job and also had a cool speedometer that spectators could step up and lob a serve into - getting their kilometers per hour! I was a 128!

  21. 400 miles NE of Brazil, metal debris and a seat has been found in the sea.

  25. Tennin Open LOL ;-)
I would like to go to Roland Garros one day to watch the tennis open and have champagne and strawberries.

    Good luck tomorrow Guille.

And all of you who are going to meet up with Monica; have fun !

  26. I wouldn't mind an invitation to the Open French Tennin.

  27. Thanks for the photo on a busy week, Eric! I love the floral belt this guy player seems to be wearing.

LOL Lynn, the queen of double entendre.

I have a friend who has a friend who takes the Rio/Paris flight often. He took it just the day before the crash, but in the opposite direction. This flight has affected so many people I know! I'm actually glad they found some rubble, so the relatives can begin to get some closure.

    Love to all.

  28. ;) Suzy.

I don't know about these things - how much 'debris' are they likely to find and what would it be? I should imagine anything belonging to the passengers would be treasured by relatives, but is any of it likely to be recovered? If they found seats, does it mean they found bodies and can, at least, have a decent burial? Those poor people.

  29. Eric -- hope your week gets better. Meanwhile, I have a case of "Tennin" elbow that can only be cured by more posts from you. Love what they do at this spot at all times of the year! Thanks for sharing.

  30. I have only a few minutes of internet access today so I just want to say one more time I LOVE YOU ALL, what a fantastic family PDP is. Wish you were all here.

Thanks again for all your love.

M.Benaut, a special kiss to you, thanks for the message.

Oh and I almost forgot to say:

    Guille is fabulous!!!

  31. I know, Monica, Guille is so cute and sassy I just want to hang her from my rear view mirror.

    Much love to you, too!!!

Lynn, you may remember that we had a flight go down in the New York Hudson Bay a few months ago. The passengers have started to receive packages containing personal items that had been recovered by a special search and recovery team.

    See article here:
    http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/05/28/usair.passengers.items.returned/index.html

So, maybe. Though I suppose this effort will be on a much grander scale.

  32. "Guille is so cute and sassy I just want to hang her from my rear view mirror" LOOOOL thanks Suzy!

Monica :) you're fabulous too. I hope we'll have time to catch up several times during the next few weeks.

  33. That's fascinating Suzy, let's hope something can be salvaged for those relatives. I think I would want it.
