Recycling Party
I'm just back from a "Recycling party"! It took place at a famous concert hall in Paris, called l'Alhambra (near Republique) where the European Recycling Platform teamed up with No Major Musik, a music producer in order to organize a big concert to stimulate the recycling of electronic goods. Thus, anybody who showed up with something electronic to recycle was granted free access to the concert. Clever idea for a pretty boring topic, isn't?! PS: I'm off fro 3 days in the South of France, but I'll feed you with photos of Paris as if I was still in my beloved city ;-)

What did you drop off to recycle, Eric? This is such a good idea I wonder why more cities don't come up with things like this.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time in the S of F.
Too bad they only recycle electronic goods . . .

I'm alone in Paris, boooooo!!!
Recycling involves processing used materials into new products to prevent waste of potentially useful materials...
ReplyDeleteI woke up today feeling very sad and alone. I saw your image Eric on recycling and I thought "Why not recycle myself ?". Lol.
I am potentially a useful material or least I think so. LOL.
So I packed a bag {backpack} and I am off to parts unknown. Wherever the wind blows is good enough for me.
Thanks for the inspiration. Althought it comes from a strange idea it works for me, right now.
I'm pretty sure the ever cautious and health & safety freaks in England don't let us do that. Electrical goods certainly are subject to scrutiny at auction houses and I don't think they are sold in charity shops. Recycling's a great idea though! I think we should all do more of this in this financial climate. I believe there are quite a lot of excessive and luxurious goods no longer deemed necessary in the UK, single previous owners; owned from new, by careful (with their own cash only) MPs.
ReplyDeleteShall you tell us where you end up, Anonyme? Send us a virtual postcard perhaps? We'd all be interested. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure we will not mind some photos from le sud :-) bon voyage!
ReplyDeleteHey Drummond, we have TWO readers! ...I'm beginning to see our names in lights... ;)
ReplyDeleteSo poetic, Anonyme!
ReplyDeleteEric, I hope you have a wonderful, restful weekend.
Pasadena has recycling programs of all sorts, but I've never been able to turn in any of my old junk for concert tickets. Great idea.
Honestly, it seems that ANYTHING is more fun in Paris. I really do like the idea of a party like this.
ReplyDeleteBon courage et bonne chance, Anonyme!
A documentary that will definitely change our way to see the planet is Home by Yann Arthus-Bertrand. I saw it recently and I think that the message is very powerful and also the images are great.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else has seen it?
With such an inclination to travel, can we loosely put it as "wonderlust" ?
ReplyDeleteHope you find inner peace. Outdoors.

Oh yeah, Eric! That's for you...
ReplyDeleteKeats
Thank you everyone at PDP for the kind farewells. Passport in hand, I say adieu...
ReplyDeleteHappy trails to you, until we meet again.
Some trails are happy ones,
Others are blue.
It's the way you ride the trail that counts,
Here's a happy one for you.

lol, Lol, LOL.
Eric, thanks for picking my little effort. When will my 'Harley' be delivered?
ReplyDeleteI suspect I won by default, as I knew your modesty would prevent you from picking Michael's.
Lynn, you know the old saying- "Keep 'em beggin' for more"
Anonyme, Au revoir et bonne chance!
In Sydney we're given the opportunity twice a year to dump our "white goods" on the footpath outside and the council collects it for recycling. Electronic goods however don't seem to have a place to go.
ReplyDeleteHappy trails Anonyme :)
That's a great excuse for a party, not that it seems much of an excuse is required in Paris ...
ReplyDeletefrom cali, Yayyyyy! Congrats, GF! Woohoooooo! {I'm pretty sure that's the noise these party goers would make when they are leaving the kerb.} A hat trick! {Or is it called a Crown Trick here?}
Our council charges to pick ours up! Not sure how much but you're not supposed to leave things like freezers, ovens, fridges outside as young children could climb in and shut the door on themselves. ok that's a possibility, but generally our health & safety has gone bananas. I read today that parents can no longer take photos of their children on sports day at school. I leave you to consider why that might be, but for goodness' sake we can't even put photos of our children at school sports in our albums anymore? Hasn't it all gone a bit mad?
ReplyDeleteEric! Your blog - c'est absolutment merveilleuse! I love your photos and I really appreciate you sharing your beloved city with us. I live in Canada and hope to get to France one day, but until then, I will just sit back and relax and enjoy the sites of your city through your eyes! Merci bien!
ReplyDeleteJoyjoywatson Welcome here, on behalf of Eric and in his temporary holiday-jaunting absence!
ReplyDeleteA diamond blog? Good grief this is MADE for me to visit! My eyes nearly popped out of my head. Alas, you have nothing posted! Do please let me know when you do.
Enjoy the south of France..where are you headed?
ReplyDeleteWhere I live they schedule a day for pick up of large appliances to be disposed of. I think that might include furniture also.
ReplyDeleteShell: I was wondering what today's sound would be. I personally like Crown Trick, but Phx hasn't checked in for ages so I am not sure it's official. Phx: call home!!!
Fab idea, Eric. NYC is very good about recycling, but all we get for our efforts is a good feeling and a smaller carbon footprint.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time in the South.
Hey, from cali—have you managed the hat trick? Good for you! (been missing my PDP fix due to a computer crisis of somewhat epic proportions.
Going to 6/16 now to check out the literary genius (I have no doubt) of Lynn & Drummond. And congrats, Drummond, for yesterday. Brilliant!
Motorcycling. Bicycling. REcycling. It's a theme.
ReplyDeleteAnonyme's plaint reminds me of an old album: "Recycling the Blues" by Taj Mahal.
Lynn and Drummond -- wow! Is there a fan club I can join?
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn - I just put up my first post today - It's a work in progress, so please feel free to look at it anytime!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your paintings! Salut!
hehe Alexa. Er.. why yes of course. We're in the process of setting it up. Er.. aren't we, Drummond? ;) Thank you. lol.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Joyjoywatson!
That is a great idea, Eric. I wish more people here in the States recycled, it is very slowly catching on. Thanks for sharing even when you're on vacation! Have a wonderful time!
ReplyDeletePS--I thought I was just taking a few days off and looking back realized that it was 2 whole weeks!! I must have been busier than I thought! So glad to be back!
Time flies, hey Christie! We missed you.
ReplyDeleteChristie, welcome back! We've missed you.
