Paris snow scene

This is not what's happening right now in Paris. It's just another photo I took during the snowy days we had before Christmas. I took it on Le Pont Nôtre Dame and I actually like the light effects coming from the street. I also like the blinking Santa hat of the guy in the background. Very appropriate! I'm currently in Boston for the day, it's not sowing, but it's cold!

  5. Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!! I haven't seen Paris look like this in ages!!! Pretty cool! Reminds me why I thought California was paradise on earth by comparison to a Paris winter ;) Thanks for that pic!!!

  6. Looks like Paris got hammered! I'm glad you made it safely to Boston and I hope you have a wonderful time.

  7. I really, really like this photo. The snow and movement give it just enough of a blur to look like a painting.

Hope that you are enjoying your vacation. Boston is one of my favorite places, and I had the pleasure of living there for 3 years. If you have time, stop by Legal Seafood in the Prudential Center for some clam chowder. And if you're missing French cuisine, try Sandrine's in Cambridge.

  10. Oh, yeah, Boston. I was wrong. Add it to the list.

This photo reminds me of painting here in our museum. I was going to give the web page, but the museum's site is not working properly.

Anyway, it's a very Impressionist photo.

  11. jeff is right, it looks like an Impressionist painting. Would make a marvelous poster. Might be one of my favorites of your shots.

Enjoy Boston; you are seeing it before I get a chance, but I have a cousin there who is determined that I visit...

  12. Oh my goodness, I just love this shot, Eric. Everything about it is right, the movement, the snow and blurry quality because of it and the light and of course the Paris bridge. Henri CB in colour!

  13. Good morning Eric!!!! Time to take your breakfast!!!! :))
Lovely shot, looks almost like a painting. Sun and snow this morning for me. Good ski slopes!
    Have a nice day!

  14. @Eric..."I actually like the light effects coming from the street". The lighting is the first thing that I noticed. It gives the picture a nice glow. The man in the foreground looks so serious (ba humbug); whereas, the young man in the background looks so happy and silly and totally into the Christmas spirit.

I noticed that you go to Boston. Is it for work, do you have a girlfriend there, hmmmmmm?

Virginia, Nice profile photo of you.

  15. Have so much fun in Boston, Eric!!
You're certainly making the most of your holiday break and I hope you're enjoying it.

Tomate - LOL! I still have the same feeling ever since arriving in Cali from south of Boston (Phila)!

Michael - Have fun soaking up the rays, too. Its a real tonic in the middle of the grey blast of winter, isn't it? Enjoy!

  16. Quick check from the Airport (thank you Google for the Free Wi-Fi ;-))

The flight was terrible due to the sudden security measures change. The search everyone before departure and forbid us to access our personal belogings (even a book!) one hour before landing.
But I arrived safe and sound so I should not complain should I?

The weather is quite all right in Boston (I mean not too cold, but rainy with some snow remains...)

Now I need to take some time to write the coming photo captions as I just had the time to upload them to Blogger before I left Paris.

    Have a nice week everyone.

  18. That's a beautiful photo and I really like it. I like your interpretation Lois about the feelings of the two guys in the photo. But without the hint of the red Christmas hat we could not be so sure, could we?
Hi Eric ; true that you could have traveled to the US in better times... but you are on the American ground now. Enjoy it! Hope you'll find a little time to write... I'm sure you're able to do it at anytime and very well.

  19. Eric, I'm sorry you had such a rough welcome. It probably won't be any easier at the airport when you return home. For now, please enjoy your stay! America is lucky to have you on her soil!

  20. Geez, you think it's cold here in Boston? We are true Bostonians and today, Dec. 27, feels like a heat-wave to us. Of course we will have many many more snowy frigid days before we see the first spring crocus! Have a great time in Boston.
I would love a snowy day in Paris!
