Paris?

City Daily Photo police: "And you think we're going to believe you took this photo in Paris?". Eric: "I swear, Officer, I did, in the 8th arrondissement!" Pfff... I did not end up in jail, but you've gotta say,it's hard to believe, isn't? This pagoda used to be an old Louis-Philippe style building that a yound student that became an art dealer at the begining of the 20th century (Mr Ching Tsai Loo,) had turned into a pagoda. Very impressive. You cannot really visit it, but if you happen to go to the Jacquemart-André museum, well it's not very far: it's located at 48, rue de Courcelles.

  1. The thing that makes it least believable about it being in Paris is the color. One does not really expect to see a pink building while strolling the streets of Paris.

Is that in on of the Chinatowns?

  2. I have yet to visit that museum and this unusual building is even more reason to one day visit. I will add it to my list for next year.

  3. Justine GF! :) what do you have on your crown?

We have a pink building a little like this in Tewkesbury, though it's Tudor English as opposed to Chinese. This is lovely! Great angle too.

  4. It's a really huge contrast between this pagoda and the rest of the buildings, not only for the architecture but the color. It's like a field full of daisies with a single rose in the middle!

  5. Congrats GF, Justine!

I confirm this pagoda is in Paris: it is about 200m from where I live (when not in Cheverny!), and I'm passing by almost everyday.

  6. ... And no, it's not in Chinatown ;-)

  7. That is quite surprising! It looks like they considered color coordination in the landscaping plan, as those trees appear a similar tint to the building.

  8. good eye with regard to tree color Lydia! so true, I wonder if that was planned. I like the color of this Pagoda & the angle of the photograph is superb.
    Nice find Eric.

  9. I like very much how you caught the whole thing ; that's a pretty beautiful building but it looks like something quite closed, doesn't it?
I love the humour in your caption! I can witness it's located in Paris indeed as I often passed by some years ago when I worked in this area... Pfff time flies...;()

  11. Your 'Pfff' matches the raspberry colour nicely, Eric! And like Flore, I love your funny caption.

  12. I have some snapshots of the pink pagoda, but without the benefit of the Tenin perspective, they are feeble by comparison.

Re the Jacquemart-Andre museum, I think it's one of the best in Paris.
The superb art collection or the opulent mansion on their own would be well worth a visit, but together they are just fabulous.

....and why not finish off your visit by relaxing with a pot of hot chocolate and a delicious cake or pastry in the sumptuous surroundings of the dining room, or, weather permitting, on the terrace outside.

Must stop day dreaming and get back to work.

  14. I only read about this pagoda, I haven't been there yet. But it is on my next time...or next time... list.

A great angle, it makes it look a little mysterious.

  15. I'm daydreaming too Drummond. So - this hot chocolate pot. Does it have cream on top or not? I'm not too keen on the cream but will take some powdered and sprinkled chocolate? The pastry: how is that, too. I do need to know. Thereafter, which characters shall we choose?.............;) LOL

  19. The Jacquemart-Andre is already on my list for next time. I've only read about it (and dreamt, too, Drummond). Love that pic, Eric. Thanks for keeping the trees in. Pink trees! Who'da thunk it?

  21. I passed by this building one day and had to do a double take, it seemed so out of place. But in a cool way.
