Yesterday was red, today is... green. Why? Because I had the chance to have lunch at the Pershing Hall hotel today where they installed a vertical garden in the restaurant, in between the two main buildings of the hotel. The effect is really cool (and yes, the food is very good too!). FYI the hotel is located in what is usually called the "Golden Triangle", that is an area in the 8th arrondissement located between Avenue Montaigne, Avenue George V and Avenue Champs Elysées.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo!!! I've seen another vertical garden, on an streetside wall, I believe down on or near the rue des Rosiers. I think they are a fantastic idea and I hope they catch on. I'd love to meet you all for lunch here!
ReplyDeleteI have been a fan of Patric Blanc's since I first saw his vertical garden at the Comme des Garcons store on rue Cherche Midi. He has done tons of vertical gardens in Paris and thru out the world, as your commenters will soon tell.
ReplyDeleteI just did a tour of the Flower Show at Macy's (don't miss) and during the tour, he pointed out a "vertical wall" with a dragonfly designed in the middle, saying that the walls are a "new fashion". Hooray for Patric Blanc and to Eric for showing one.
So much to like in this photo, but my eye is first drawn to that splash of violet (in both top windows) and the graceful railings. The only bad thing about meeting here would be having to eventually leave.

ReplyDeleteThe really nice thing about this restaurant that may not be so well known is that it is often used by world-famous celebrities who wish to dress up special yet still dine incognito.
