Meet Adèle Blanc Sec...

Don't be too demanding on the photo quality today, it is just a pretext to introduce you to Adèle Blanc Sec, a French character from a comic book created by Jacques Tardi, who supposedly lived at the beginning of the 20th century in Paris. She is very famous in France so no wonder Luc Besson made a movie about her. This movie has just been released ans since you probably cannot see it - yet! - where you are, I'll let you discover the stunning web site that was made to promote it. Not only can you see the trailer, but also a little visit through Paris "à la belle époque". All with English subtitles.

  2. The web site is amazing. Can't wait for the coming soon features. The film is beautifully shot.

My knowledge of famous French comic book characters is extremely limited (okay more like nonexistent) so who are some of the others?

I was working at the EC office today and JM just happened to mention this movie to me...funny coincidence! It looks like something I'd love...wish it were coming out here but I can't seem to find any U.S. release dates listed. Let us know what you think if you go see it!

  5. Eric -- I can't wait to see this! (BTW, when I worked in Paris at the modeling agency, I had a child model named Luc Besson—an adorable child with very blond hair. Maybe the same?)

  14. Wow, that's one BIG movie poster. Merci for the link to the film's website. It is way cool! I noticed everything at the website isn't completely up and running yet. :)

@ Eric, I saw on France24 in the culture section that the French comic Olivier Giraud -- the one you saw about a week ago -- was interviewed. It's only a few minutes long, but it is interesting. http://www.france24.com/en/20100423-how-to-become-parisian-in-one-hour-french-comic-olivier-giraud He said that he is planning to have a show in San Francisco.

  17. louis vuitton do not have a monopoly on epi leather, which is produced in French mills. But by far, the prettiest example of the use of this leather can be found within the louis vuitton monogram denim collection itself. After all, we must give credit to those who started the craze. The Petit Noé is the lv Belts that shows off the epi leather gloriously.
