Soon, the world cup!

Unless you live under a rock (or maybe if you're American and don't really follow everything that is soccer related) you probably know that the World Cup will soon start in South Africa. To be honest I don't think the French team will stay in the tournament very long... To much money and sex and not enough soccer I'm afraid ;-) There is even a supermarket chain who recently advertised saying "You TV set refunded if the French team wins the cup!" That says a lot. In the meantime I found this young, promising player training hard in the Jardin des Buttes Chaumont. So cute! BTW, if you want to follow the World Cup, go to Footbalistic, they are friends of mine.
PS : don't forget the PDP picnic this Sunday (June 6) at 1 PM. More details on this Facebook Page. The weather is going to be gorgeous.

  1. Who learns young, will perform when old. In Holland lots of streets color orange (as this is the color of the National Team).
Soons to be seen on the Dutch Daily Photos, I am sure.

  2. "You TV set refunded if the French team wins the cup!" LOOOOOL that's awesome. Yep, chances are tiny.
I am really not interested in football, but this young player is really really cute.

One question though: aren't the Americans qualified for this World Cup?.. I thought they were doing better and better. Or maybe it was in rugby. I am confused.

  4. Cute kid! Guille ~You're right, the American futbol team just beat Turkey and is on its way to South Africa. USA is improving. It'll be interesting to see how the team fares this year in the W.C. Wazzup with the French boys? Happy Memorial Day weekend to those on this side of the pond.

  5. There's hope for the future, then, Eric. Maybe next year, France vs. the US.

Reminds me of some pictures I took in the past. Love looking at this one, Eric. Cool, cute, like young children are.
Good luck to the French team...

  8. Lots of American kids play soccer these days! I got into it when I lived in Paris and rooted big time for the French team. I don't hold much hope for them in South Africa, either, but it will still be fun to watch. And this little one is TOO cute—nice capture, Eric!

  9. Eric, you forgot to say that this supermarket chain (Carrefour) is one of the main sponsors of the French team... which says even more about their confidence ;-))

  12. So, so, so, so cute!! You're right about soccer in America--it just isn't the biggest draw around here--but there are hundreds of thousands of kids who play. Maybe that bodes well for the future.

  16. The U.S. defeated Turkey? Uh oh, I should keep my head down tomorrow, my last day in Istanbul.

The internet connections here are bizarre. I can't view the photo of the young footballer. I'll try to check in on the Facebook page.
