Lady in red

What's nice when the weather improves is that people start invading terraces again. This gave me the occasion to take this snapshot, right in front of Théâtre du Châtelet... Like you know I always try to avoid showing people's faces which is an interesting constraint when you want to take a photo ;-)

  1. I want that cafe table! I found a little place to buy them out here in San Fran, but they are, as they say, beaucoup bucks.

    Hello, everyone!!

  3. How I love the curl of her silky white hair peeking out between her collar and hat.

  4. That is a lot of "red". Your photo looks very tippsy[sp], like, too much to drink.

  5. Yes, the contrast of her hair against the red hat and coat is very appealing. I'm glad you captured this moment, Eric, as it appears they were about to leave!

  6. Yes, I think they were just about out of there after what looks like was a beer and a jus de something. Love the angle, Eric—and also her red chapeau, which matches her jacket so well. And it's too bad you can't show the faces.

  8. I can just imagine you asking these ladies if you could take a photo of them, adding, "As long as it's not your faces."
    Followed by a swift handbagging.

  9. This is the first image that comes to mind when I hear the word "Paris"...people enjoying time at a café with outdoor seating. : ) Thank you for your wonderful variety of photos; there is always something new to learn about and appreciate.

  10. My first thought was, "that is something Jessie would wear". Thanks for reminding me of how stylish she dressed. We miss her.

  11. What a lovely red! And I'm sure it look stunning on her as well. (There are times I wish I could wear red, but those are few and far between. Right now is one of those times though!)

  12. Oh Deb in Mars, you're so right. It reminded me of her right away. She only started wearing hats after breaking her leg and it was crooked so that people would look at her hat instead of her leg.

    Thanks Eric.

  13. Great photo. The fact that we can't see their faces, just make them even more interesting.
My imagination runs wild, I already have a story going on with these two.

  14. I love that there is almost two photos in this one. One of the couple and their great hats and another of the table with the glasses, coins, and plate. Great photo!

  16. I met a pal for dinner Sunday. He is an artist, very talented painter and engraver, but the classic struggling artist in a one room loft. He said he knows why the cafe scene is so important in European cities: apartments are small, often not big enough to hang out in, to "live" in. So, people live in the cafe, and there is a much richer social scene. Yep. Big suburban houses do not make for social interaction like Paris cafes.

  17. Oh, one more thing. Reading yesterday's comments: yes, Drummond, do make it to the PDP picnic this year. I will not be able to, and they need a replacement jester. Wear motley.

  18. I love to see such a bright colour in Paris! Mostly the Parisians prefer muted colours, at least that´s my impression.

  19. @Beau Gosse " Eric, as it appears they were about to leave!" Well observed!

@Alexa. "Love the angle" Actually I have many more photos of them, but this is the only one that has this angle - and where their faces was hidden.

@Interecting photo "I thought she wearing one of Queen Elizabeth hat." LOL!!

Deb in (not on!) Mars "My first thought was, "that is something Jessie would wear"." that's a bit of a private comment for everyone to understand ;-), but yes you're very right!

  20. Nice shot! Now that's what I call a nice suit!!

(I'm not really being facetious. You can tell this is a lady who knows how to dress up, even if you can't see the face. The color coordinated hat speaks volumes!)
