Meat delivery

Here is another slice of Paris, and that one is of flesh and blood! Not like these fancy exhibit openings I've attended these past days ;-) I took this photo this morning, after my gym. I was actually stuck in the traffic because of this guy delivering his meet meat at the local market at rue Dejean. Scary in a way...

  1. It does turn my stomach a bit when I see the meat so exposed, but when it turns into beef bourgnogne, it's sublime.
    Sorry for the spelling.

  3. Seeing this man with the meat slung over his shoulder reminds me of "Irma La Douce", an old American movie I have just seen for the first time. Have you seen it Eric?

  4. I work near Smithfield Market in London and often walk through it in the morning - often consider becoming vegetarian!

  5. This is a great slice of paris life, Eric. After walking through les Halles very early in the morning and encountering the meat delivery men with entire carcasses slung over their shoulder just like this . . . I didn't eat meat for a long time! But I got over it. :~}

  6. What a great photo. I agree with Phxcdg - looks bad now, but with a little heat and sauce...yum. I've been to Paris a lot and never saw this. Thanks for the slice of daily life in my favorite city!

[To Jeff regarding your earlier message - love wine, not so pretty - ha].

  9. If it were in the U.S., I'd say that's a rib joint.

  10. Or Jeff, unless Eric catches his small typo and given your comment to MPLS Loves France, a "meet market"?

  13. I forgot to mention that I am a bit concerned about the lady to the left of the truck with the red handbag and brown vest. Her head has morphed into a double cube from the shock of seeing the raw meat!

  14. Coucou Eric... ;) Yuck, doesn't look great does it, but I do love a fillet steak...

  15. Yeah, it's scary when you see grim reality staring you in the face, and not on your plate, I agree.
By the way, are you coming to my picnic on the Pont des Hearts on Sunday (http://bit.ly/fD5mwW) - I owe you a picnic or two, you know! You and anyone else who wants to come is welcome, but you might have to cancel a couple of lunches or gallery openings I'm afraid Eric ;-) Cheers, Sab

  16. Yum. I love meat. Although I must say that I prefer filet mignon, this looks good too. But Jeff is right, these look like rib racks, and large ones at that.

I'm impressed that you carry your camera to the gym, and even more that you went to the gym this morning! Way to go, Eric!

  17. @Buzzgirl "I'm most impressed by the fact that you went to the gym this morning" LOL!

@Lily "Have you seen Irma La Douce Eric?" - No, I haven't , but the title soudns familiar. It's an Amercian movie, really?

@Tomate "Ah... Delivery of fresh materials for Lady Gaga's dress?" LOOOOOOOOOOL

@Jeff "If it were in the U.S., I'd say that's a rib joint." Ohhhh!

@Michael "Or Jeff, unless Eric catches his small typo..." I did!

@Anonymous "Gotta love a man who delivers his meat!" Why do I have the feeling this has a double meaning?!

@Beau gosse "Meet, meat and greet!!!!!" Pas mal ! And don't worry too much for the lady in red, I'm sure she's fine LOL

@Lynn. See. We all like a good steak (well I don't that much...) but we don't like the idea it was once a cow...

@Sab. I will do my best. I already have something at 11 (no, not mass!), but I can pop in afterwards.

@Chrstie "I'm impressed that you carry your camera to the gym, and even more that you went to the gym this morning!" I carry my camera EVERYWHERE!

  18. This lady in red/brown thing - I've just enlarged your photo to see what all the fuss is about. - You poor dears are soooo off-piste when it comes what's hot and what's not.
She is wearing this season's 'must have' fashion accessory, the Two-Tone Head Cuboid.
It's totally impractical of course darlings, what with the danger of walking into a lampost, or stumbling into the path of an oncoming vehicle, but who cares when one is looking uber-cool on the streets?

PS. Eric, probably best to keep the camera safely out of sight in the changing rooms at the Gym.

  19. Sab, if I were there, you know I'd attend and bring a bottle of wine.

Just to let you know, we are expecting snow on Sunday. Please think of me!
