No this is not a fancy dressed parade nor the Paris carnival, but a real procession that I photographed yesterday in the streets of Paris, not far from my home! This people celebrate King Saint Louis the 9th (aka Saint Louis) and monarchy in general, for yes, there are still monarchists in France. Passers by were a bit puzzled I must say, but everything went smoothly - at least for the part I saw. Have a great Sunday everyone, whether you have a king or not!
We do have a king, but I have never seen him in real life.
ReplyDeleteDo you suppose the knight in shining armor is wearing aluminum? Isn't life fun?
ReplyDeleteC'est Louis IX (Saint Louis)
ReplyDeleteDo you think Daft Punk saw this procession a few years ago and were inspired?
ReplyDeleteThank goodness you didn't get trampled! :~}
ReplyDeleteIt makes for a very dramatic photograph, Eric.
ReplyDeleteI know a certain country that would be better off with a benevolent king... at least something would get done. In any case, you were very bold to get that camera angle on these guys !
ReplyDeleteTomber l'armure et être plus léger (un but ...!!!) :-) Alléger ! Voilà ce que les beaux jours et cette bien à-propos photo m'inspirent comme réflexion pour moi-même. Deux ll à alléger, et aucun(e) à armure, c'est sans doute ça !!!! Je dois trouver des ll ;-}
ReplyDeleteBien bon dimanche ensoleillé et/ou léger à tous ....!!!!
Magnifique procession, organisée par l'association parisienne Oriflamme, dont c'était la première "sortie publique" semble-t-il. D'autres suivront-elles? On l'espère...
