Looks

Two days ago, I attended the launch of a new Social Network (yes another one!) on a boat, right by the Eiffel Tower (you can see the Seine in the background of this photo). This new network is called Looknbe and its purpose is to allow people to exchange looks advice and tips. Among other things, you can for instance take a photo of the tie/gown you plan to wear for the day and ask "your network" if they think it matches your shirt or shoes! Silly?! That is what I thought before they actually presented t the business plan... What if tomorrow's Facebook was French? Anyway, of course, to attract media's attention they had a gimmick (Mr Migö in this photo) and I fell for it! After all things are pretty tense at the moment in Paris (lots of strikes and demonstrations due to the new law about retirement) so I thought a little humor would be welcome.

  1. Okay Eric, my advice is to wear glasses in RED. The contrast will make more sense. LOL ! Cheers from Tilburg

  2. I don't think the glasses go with her shoes.

That must have been some business plan!

Love the photo, tho, as always!!

  3. It was bound to happen sooner or later—and kind of fitting that fashion advice should come from chic Parisians. Thanks for the laugh, Eric, and hope the strikes and demonstrations aren't inconveniencing you too much.

  4. I for one LOVE this idea. Social networking + personal expression!

  5. I like this idea too. It's always a good idea to think of more ways to have fun.

  6. Why did you take a photo of me without telling me ? LOL
Maybe PINK glasses would help even more, Peter, no? Well if correctly worn of couse!
I love the idea and this photo! Very funny. So that was the day you also took the Statue of Liberty, I guess. Two very different shots. Excellent.

  7. I'm going to start a new social network - called Tweet'n'Eat Everyone Tweets and Eats, right?

So the idea will be when you're in a restaurant, and your, well, eating, and you're not sure which of the items on your plate would combine best for your next mouthful, you quickly grab your smart phone, take a shot, and call on your 'network' to help out.

I'm sure the replies and advice will come flooding in:

'No, not that cold bean with the fish, put a bit of purée with it..'

'Those three grains of rice on the left are looking a bit lonely; why not soak up that splodge of sauce with them...'

And so on. I'm sure it'll be a great hit, and I'm willing to work with partners, so - anyone in?

  8. Good satire Sab, excellent and well done!!
I clicked on the link to the Looknbe website and that's really crazy but I'm glad I'm now belonging to the happy few who know this is existing! LOL Thank you Eric, I'm serious :). That's totally crazy but also probably cool if you are stressed before a special event and want to get a majority trend to one question of look. Really funny... Migö has a super look anyway!

  10. Really funny. I love how facebook has reconnected me with friends, old and new, but I can't imagine asking them for fashion advice--who has time for that on a busy morning? lol

  13. And Eric, I don't think you've changed your look in at least 5 years! (profile pic)

  14. I would never join a social network that would rate me as a member.

(Read that as you like, and apologies to Groucho.)

  15. LOL Jeff! I read that as I liked, as you suggested. :)

Sab, I cannot join your social network. Not only can I not stand photos of dinner plates, but I don't think a computer has been made with enough memory to hold photos of everything I eat.

  17. A style social network? Oh dear. Probably won't do real well around here.
