Caged Eiffel Tower
Everything comes to an end, especially vacation! Time for me to come home after a week in the US (where I finally got to see Washington DC!) and to go back to work... I took this photo at the Trocadero, where they have work going on at the moment (hence the grid). I thought it would give the photo a cool effect and I'm pretty happy with the result. BTW, don't forget, soon the PDP picnic will take place ;-)

It gives it such a modern touch! Amazing how you can give us so many different interpertations of eT.
ReplyDeleteI guess I never realized the alignment with the Tour Montparnasse.
ReplyDeleteYou've seen may capitol city before I have. I've never been to Washington DC. I'll have to ask you for advice!
I'm glad you are reminding people about the picnic.
At first I thought it was a distorted reflection in mirrored glass. Until I realized it was the frame that was distorted and not the image! I love it. I also love Washington and I hope you loved it, too. :-)
ReplyDeleteMaybe if Austrian inventor Franz Reichelt--famous for his so-called "coat parachute"-- would have encountered this fencing, he would have thought twice about jumping to his death from the tower. Perhaps, poor Franz should have taken up the safer hobby of photography. Another keen shot, Eric...and you lived to tell the tale. ;-) Hope you enjoyed your stay in our nation's capitol.
ReplyDeleteOne can never get enough pictures of the Eiffel Tower! And I hope you enjoyed Washington, DC -- my home town.
ReplyDeleteI had never seen this Caged Eiffel Tower in my life time. You have to take such a great Picture of Caged Eiffel Tower. Nice Efforts.
ReplyDeleteWeird feeling of Paris enclosed in a prisoners' camp. Unless the prisonners are outside, allowed only a glimpse to the City of Light ?
ReplyDeleteEric, are you sure everything is allright being back home ? ;o)
I never tire of seeing the beautiful ET! Let her out, I say!!!
ReplyDeleteAgree with Nasty GG. The ET is not that beautiful behind a grid...
ReplyDeleteYou had great vacations in the other side of the world. Have a good flight.

ReplyDeleteLoooved going to the top of the Tower. Paris is beauutiful!
ReplyDeleteRest assured, mes amis, the "cage" is only a financial barrier: "Unless you pay $2500 for airfare and lodging, you cannot come in!"
ReplyDeleteAah, peering through the fence,
Maintenant je pense:
When can I next see
Paris...?
Even caged, she is beautiful! Now if we could just "disappear" the awful Tour Montparnasse . . .
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it safely home, Eric. Hope you had a wonderful time over here.
Hi Eric, I hope you enjoyed D.C. It is one of my favorite cities.,,of course...nothing can compare to Paris. Do you know of a restaurant named Morot-gaaudry near the Eiffel Tower? I am considering having dinner there this summer if it is good. They do not have a web site and I was hoping you might know of it. We want to find a good restaurant near the Eiffel Tower for my b-day dinner:). Hope your trip was a safe and happy one.
ReplyDeleteTry Fountain de Mars, Obama went there while in Paris. Near ET but no view. I also spelled it incorrectly.
ReplyDelete@PHX. "Amazing how you can give us so many different interpertations of ET." Actually I'm always surprised too ;-)
ReplyDelete@Jeff. "You've seen may capitol city before I have. I've never been to Washington DC. I'll have to ask you for advice!" It's exactly like in movies ;-)
Actually I only stayed 2 days in DC, but I enjoyed it a lot (even though I was still jetlagged...)
@NastyGG "Eric, are you sure everything is allright being back home ? ;o)" Yes, perfectly alright!!
@Elaine " Do you know of a restaurant named Morot-gaaudry near the Eiffel Tower? " No, I don't. But I'm not very good at restaurants.
Yes Fontaine de Mars is nice - this one I know. And Why not Chez Georges, up top the Beaubourg Center? Far from ET, but beautiful view.
@ Elaine : Les Ombres, on the top of the Quai Branly museum is a nice restaurant, too, with a fabulous view, directly on the ET... And luminous :)
