Bikers demonstration

Bikers are not happy and they want the government to know it! Why? Because of the recent measures I already mentioned here - mostly the fact that radars won't be notified before you come across one, like it used to be. It's very unlikely that this demonstration will change anything, but it allowed me to take this cool head! FYI, there are roughly 2,5 million bikers in France in total, and according to statistics, they are 3 times more likely to be killed than car drivers. And they demonstrate against seucrity measures? Er...

  1. It's interesting to note that bikers are really stupid no matter where they call home.

  2. Starman,

    I think you'll find that many car drivers (in fact drivers in general are not very keen on the use of radar). It's not just bikers who are stupid you know...

  3. Smart place to have a tattoo - if you get tired of it, you can just grow your hair out (assuming you still have hair).

  6. Looks like most of these guys are wearing helmets, at least. I guess this one didn't want to hide the artwork! I bet you blended right in at the demo, Eric. :~}

  7. I've discovered along the way that big burly bikers covered in tattoos can sometimes be the kindest people out there, big pussycats really haha! (well some of them!!)

  8. A day without a strike or demonstration in Paris is like a day without sunshine! Yes, that tattoo surely looks painful....merci, NON!!!

  9. Oh, well, something to do on a Saturday. Bike lovers don't need a good excuse to get together, they just like being around bikes. "Protest radars? Fine. I'll be there. I want to see your new scoot."

  10. Isn't it strange that they have to legislate safety? You would think that most people would want to stay alive...bike helmets, traffic laws -- they're all here to keep us safe. (not that I follow the posted speed limit though!)

    LOL If the biker pictured here was 50 kilos heavier, I'd think it was my cousin, one of those, "you wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley" looking guys. Mr. Marshmallow would be more accurate!

  11. The photo is nicely unusual. Sometimes demonstrations are totally useless, though. This one for instance...? But who am I to know a thing? Only feeling something a little useless and painful too, maybe like these tattoos... ouch.

    I was not referring to the radar (I'm not crazy about that either), I was referring to the stupid tattoos.

  14. I agree with the bikers even though I am not one. They are totally right to demonstrate. There are many rules which are unfair to bikers in france as opposed to drivers in general.
    And as for the 'protesting against safety measures' as you put it...it is more a case of protesting against the money grabbing government. There are other ways to promote safety on the roads than not warning about speed cameras and increasing the price of fines. Perhaps they should look again at their driving test which allows idiots to pass it despite not knowing how to use indicators or roundabouts properly. But most of all what should be banned are 'les voitures sans permis' and scooters which do not require a license either. Surely allowing people to drive who have no licence or knowledge of the rules on roads is the most dangerous thing. Not to mention those people who lose their licence for drink/drug driving and then go on to get a car or scooter for which they do not require one. That's definitely sensible...
    There is a lot more to this matter than you have presented here to probably many people outside of France with no knowledge of how it actually works.
