There was music at the opera last night, but it was not the usual opera music and it was not inside the opera, but on the steps, outside! A huge band, mostly wind instruments (
listen to them on Myspace), very good. Huge success! Earlier, I came across another band, in a very typical café (
look at them here). Well, it was a fun Fête de la musique (music fest), like always.
What fun! It looks like a carryover from the White Dinner. I especially like the woman/man with the electric -raspberry colored hair.
ReplyDeleteEveryone in Paris really enjoyed themselves despite the weather I hear. We are having a heat wave in San Francisco -- I'm blowing the sunshine your way. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this photo - the white and gold on the building is carried into the white and gold instruments. Also, it just looks like fun - I love outdoor music in the summer. Happy first day of summer PDP followers!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great scene, of course the building looks so beautiful, but also I've never seen white Tuba's before, they look tres elegant, I can imagine the whole evening would have been fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWish that I had been there this year... We drank it all in last year from classical at La Madeleine to street corner singers to jazz at Pré aux Deux Clercs. Oh, and we did hear the music, too - hah!
ReplyDeleteBises,
Genie
This is such an very Great Fun. I am Impressed by Music at the Opera. It's full of the Enjoyment.
ReplyDeleteWas going to say what Monnica said: Kind of looks like a cross between Fete de la Musique and le Diner Blanche. Would have loved to be right there with you!
ReplyDeleteGuess that would be le diner blanc, oui? Never have got those tenses quite right. :~}
ReplyDeleteOu Nuit Blanche de la Musique!
ReplyDeleteThe Opera Garnier is a really special place to me. It makes me happy to see this photo of a special event there. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful opera, very ?interesting? lab coat costumes of the band, and the spectators! We get to see the spectators this time! It's like we're one of the band. (Except for the having to play an instrument thing...whew) Nice photo, Eric. Thanks for including us!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could have listened to them by myself. Sure it was joyful and entertraining! Alas, I was focused on my day-to-day to-do-list, like many days and many of us... sigh...
ReplyDeleteGlad to see the picture and know this was taking place there... The drawing of an odd animal at the back of one spectator's coat is really lovely to me... Seems like staring at us with anger mixed with humor - cracking me up! I would have loved to see that by myself...!
What a great experience. I was just there a couple of weeks ago. Sorry I missed the music!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great music party everywhere. Hope you have enjoyed it.
