Book Signing (not singing!)


It's not everyday that a friend of yours publishes a novel and invites you to the book signing... That's what happened to me last evening at the Librairie de l'Inconnu, where Bruno Vinay Garenne was singning his first novel called Sens Interdit (no way out?) - don't ask me what the plot is, i haven't read it yet! I know it's a bit personal and not really interesting for you, and even though I climbed on a chair I did not really manage to make a good photo(!), but, hey once, in a while, you want to share the happy moments of your friends don't you?!

    Yes is this a new Tenin perspective? I think sometimes a personal photo tells a more interesting story.

    There must be something special, Eric, or you were specially happy, as you wrote singing instead of signing twice ;-)

    Or maybe the author was really singing the text of his book while signing it!?

    Good for your friend(s).
    I like how you translate "Sens interdit" by "no way out". I thought of another translation like "no entry". In French, it seems to me that it makes a difference. "No way out" could mean "sans issue", couldn't it? Or "sans échappatoire" which could also be something slightly different. Well... wish your friend's book be soon translated in several languages, included English of course, and that question will have a sense. But for now, this is fine like that.

    On the contrary, I think you made a very great photo, Eric, by climbing on the chair. More unusual than the normal face on signing shot.

    Bruno how wonderful. I am full of admiration - and some envy I have to say! Congratulations. I hope to read your book some day.

    Seems to me that when you have a blog as popular as yours, part of that popularity - a large part - is 'your' take on Paris. And for that reason we readers are delighted to see something personal to you - good luck to Bruno and his novel.
