Here we go again! Like every year I found myself at the white dinner party (le dîner en blanc) last evening. Or should I say white dinnerS, as, for the first time, there were two; one in the square courtyard of the Louvre (la cour carrée du Louvre) and the other one at Notre Dame. I took a lot of photos, but I won't have time to select them before this weekend, so be patient! In the meantime, here is a pretty unexpected one: a chef (dressed in white, bien sûr...) cooking in front of Notre Dame ;-).

J'adore this event - if only I could go one day!! I can't believe there were two this year, is it because there's so many people now? Is it still invite only? Can't wait for the pix...
ReplyDeleteFraming the chef in whites by Notre Dame makes for quite a picture. It will be fun seeing your other pictures.
ReplyDeleteWhen I went to a "White Dinner" in 2006 in May or June in Paris, they told me that they were the most fashionable new type of dinner parties, and that they were given all over Paris to some greater or lesser extent. I had no idea, but I went along, and enjoyed the White Dinner Party.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous photo, Eric! You are truly part of what we called in the '60s "le tout Paris." Do you still use that expression?
ReplyDeleteAlways when the photos are the most precious....Eric says: be patient!!!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI am in Cannes, this week. On Wednesday evening I saw about 150 people all dressed in white on "Les marches du Palais"... Maybe they had a White Dinner there !?
ReplyDelete(sorry, no photos !!)
I found your photo one of the best of this event (till now in the net) so I put yur blog on my INSTANT: il quotidiano reale on FB. My Congratulations Eric for your visual point of view. Benedetta
ReplyDeleteI was wondering when this would take place this year... now I know. I missed it ! Not that I would have been invited, but just to know. I love it when you make a monument of Paris be part of a slice of life like in your photo today with ND. If I'm catching it well, the White dinner is like if the city of Paris was inviting at home, right?. Very attractive... But what was this Chief there for? I thought that everyone had to bring tables, chairs and his/her food. Isn't it anymore the case? Just bring drinks now ? I'll be patient for the rest of the photos. All you've waited for a little while, often tastes better, you know.... ok not too long ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd your clothes was white, my friend?

After a very long and tiring day at work this photo made me smile. Thank you Eric. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch fun!! I love seeing your pictures of the White Dinner, Eric. You are so blessed to be invited to all these fun and special events. I hope you had a fabulous time!! :D
ReplyDeleteOMG! So unique -- your photo and this whole idea of the White Dinner. Who do I have to kill to get an invitation?:)
ReplyDeleteGreat photo and I sure wish I could partake someday, too. I love that the sky and the clothes of the chef are nearly the same color while his head and the building are also close -- at first glance it looked like one of those surrealist paintings where you're looking right through a hole in the middle of ND - blue, gold, blue, gold, blue, -- sky, tower, toque, tower, sky.
ReplyDeleteLovely shot...even the darkening sky couldn't distract the busy chef and the happy diners. In front of NDdeP...it looks like a 21st century story from Victor Hugo. :-)

ReplyDeleteOhhhh I've always wanted to go to that! How do you find out about it or get invited?
ReplyDeletewonderfull evening in magic places of Paris. Like usual it was great !
ReplyDeleteGo and see on You Tube anonymous impressions.
Lapin (rabbit) is famous !
what is that joke ?
Front de Libération des Lapins - Canal Historique sounds like a world movement against people eating rabbits !
I agree, this animal is so cute.
12.000 people and how many bottles of Champagne ?
See you next year !
Looking forward to see the pics of this year! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove your photography - it is so out of the ordinary.
