Back to my dear bridges!

That's it, after a - very - long weekend near Nîmes in the South of France, I'm back to my dear old Paris. The weather may not be as nice and the air quality may not be as good, I always enjoy going back home ;-) This is Le Pont Marie, a bridge that goes from the right bank to the Saint Louis Island, it was built by Mr Marie (Christophe was his first name) and it's one of the oldest bridges in Paris (it was built between 1614 and 1635). I think the slogan "built to last" could apply to this work of art LOL!

  1. Thank you, Eric. Pont Marie brings back very fond memories of my first visit to Paris.

  2. People I know - but will in future deny knowing! - refuse to believe that there are islands in the Seine. They did not realise they were on bridges, instead thinking it to be simply roadway. I shall buy them spectacles.

  5. One of my fave Paris bridges too. I agree: No matter what lovely place you've just visited, it's always nice to come home—especially if home is Paris!!

  6. Evidently the niches between the arches have never been filled.
I think a nice little bust of Eric would fit rather nicely in one of them.

Has someone been playing super size Monopoly here?

  8. I just read a quote which echoes your thoughts beautifully: Paris is not a city; Paris is a world. It was said by King Francois I. No wonder you are endlessly enthralled and love to return. Thank you for bringing us along on your journey through your world! : )

  10. Great photo. It is true that the architecture in France seems to last forever. I like the slogan "built to last" seems very appropriate.
