Where has everybody gone?
Those who have already been to Paris will probably recognize the Assemblée Nationale, the French Parliament, one of the chambers where laws are discussed and voted (and where our representatives sometimes behave like 4 year old kids... but that is another story!) It is located in the middle of Paris, right by the Pont de la Concorde, near the Champs Elysées. Needless to say, normally there is an enormous amount of traffic on this bridge. But not in August... Paris is almost empty at the moment and that is why I love this particular time of the year!

Good one Monica!
ReplyDeleteOur Congress has just left for a 5 week hiatus after an exhausting 2 weeks of working on our debt ceiling and also acting like a bunch of 4 year olds. LOL That too is for another time!
ReplyDeleteKris
Perhaps there is a virus going around that infects elected representatives, and one of the symptoms is behaving like 4 year old children. ;)
ReplyDeleteI can hardly believe you could get a clear shot like this at *any* time of year! This is great!
ReplyDeleteSo there's value in taking your holiday at another time. You get your city to yourself!
ReplyDeleteUsually it is so bloody hot in Paris during August...enjoy, Eric!
ReplyDeleteI confirm that it's great being in Paris at the moment, even for work!
ReplyDelete... apart from the poor weather, of course ;-(
You know what I'm thinking of ? Well the same as you ;) That's a cool stuff ! To be working here while others are in vacation enjoying the sun and the beach etc ! LOL ! No, joking apart, I agree with Thib! That's great!
ReplyDeleteYour photo almost could have been taken from a greek ancient site (well with a lot of rebuilding, or a lot of imagination)!
What I don't understand is that with Paris invaded by tourists in August, how it can still seem so relatively calm. They must all be queuing to get up the Eiffel Tower I suppose...
ReplyDeleteeric , can we have some pictures of the Paris Plage!!!
ReplyDeleteTo come, or not to come, to Paris in August. Less people, but are a lot of shops, etc. closed as well? It is amazing not to see traffic there. It is our busiest season and the streets are full! (the joys of living in a tourist area, eh?)
ReplyDeleteI wish I could ship our Congress over to Paris. And the President, too. You could keep them.
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned your representatives behaving like 4 year old kids. Well our congress has been behaving like spoiled rotten 4 year olds, stomping their feet and trying to see which ones would get their way. Finally, the debt ceiling was raised (just in time). Sometimes it gets so frustrating for us common folk. Thanks for the great photos all the time. :)
ReplyDeleteLove it!! Even though I almost got killed by some rich imbecile in his black stealth bomber Mercedes right in front once....and it was almost 2AM!! Must have been leaving the apartment of his mistress!
ReplyDelete@jack...yes, they ALL need to be shipped OUT...but not to Paris!!! Please!!!! SIBERIA suits them!!
When I lived there, I always loved August because I felt like the city belonged to me!
