Sunny break at the pyramid

Hurrah, it's been at least 2 days in a row that the sun has been shining in Paris! Not for long, though, when you read these lines, the rain will have returned ;-( Anyway, here is a view of today, from the inside of the Louvre Pyramid, a glass and metal pyramid located in the middle of the main courtyard of the Louvre Palace. Very controversial during its time, this very modern structure is now extremely popular and was even duplicated in other places, like the Museum of Science and industry in Chicago. A definite must see if you come to Paris...

  1. Beautiful. I love the place, the blue sky in your photo and the details we never see at a first glance. The art of a photographer :) Thank you.

  2. Even on a cloudy day it would seem that this would bring a bit of light into the Pyramid.

  3. I truly hated the glass pyramid when it was first proposed, but with the passage of time I now see it as genius. It has taught me a little bit about taking my time before reaching judgments. Today's perspective is an excellent one . . . you might have held it for September 1 and theme day.

  8. I'll need to research the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry point. That museum is one of the very few remains of the Chicago World Exhibition: The White City, which is recognized as the beginning of the modern city planning profession in the U.S. The Chicago exhibition included the first Ferris Wheel, which was the response to the Eiffel Tower, which awed the world a few years before.

    Nice shot of the Pyramid.

I miss Paris. Are you rich yet?

  10. Jack's words are mine exactly. And Monica I so agree; what's not to love about Paris (at least as a visitor, Parisiens might come up with a few things).

  12. Oh I need some of that blue sky!
Just got back to the UK from a few weeks holiday on the beautiful and sunny island of Menorca to be greeted by cold, rain and riots (aka "the new shopping")

  13. LOL Drummond. The pictures we saw on TV were terrible (don't know how it is right now).
Love x 1000 your sense of humour, as you know :)

  14. Flore, it's been quiet since I returned but I don't think the two facts are connected.
There has been no trouble at all where I live.

  15. Nor is there trouble in Central London.
Having been to the British museum today, I saw the Pyramid's relative in the ceiling of the museum's Rotunda.
