Bird's-eye view of the arch....
Thank you so much for your nice wishes yesterday ;-) Like last year I don't resist showing you an image that I grabbed from the television and that you will rarely see (it is normally forbidden to fly over Paris). The Arc de Triomphe in the middle of La Place de l'Etoile from the sky... I love it. Did you notice the red trucks? They belong to the firemen brigades that marched, like I was telling you yesterday.

That is a truly unique perspective of a great monument, inspired!
ReplyDeleteAAAAAHHHHH I missed the fireworks!! Talking on the phone for an hour trying to help a landowner, I forgot about the time. Rats. I hope the fireworks were great. I love this photo of l'Etoile.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder I get lost in the Metro at L'Etoile...look at how many sortie's there are to choose from.
ReplyDeleteBut what a VIEW!
Jeff -- LOL -- I love to say "Rats!" (and sometimes Jeepers!) but I thought I was the only one who did it anymore.
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated July 14th to one and all. This is just an awesome photo! It must be super rare that they close down L'Etoile. Wish I could have seen that.
This post fearing me with the height through they took snap
ReplyDeleteAmazing view!
ReplyDeleteWow, beautiful aerial shot and ... happy belated firemen anniversary and happy French 14th of July!!! I'm happy to share this with you.
ReplyDeleteI finally managed to catch the second half of the fireworks, from the Trocadero area, and yes... it was simply gorgeous!!! "Plein les yeux", as we say in French. Ok, one can think, that's another fireworks but still it is an unique and free splendid show. Without the insistance of my daughter, I would probably not have made it! But happy I did! The spontaneity of children is charming as well as their resistance against any tiredness! LOL!
An idea: Hold the PDP picnic on Bastille Day, at a designated spot at Champs du Mars park...every year. No more headache for Eric, trying to decide which day of which month...and those of us who live far, far away could plan ahead! I know that it's high season for travel, but look what we're missing people! And speaking of missing...where was Carla Bruni?
ReplyDeleteSo glad you grabbed this one from the télé, Eric. It's amazing. Congrats to the pompiers, and I hope you had a great Bastille Day!
ReplyDeleteAwesome shot - I've never seen L'Etoile without a zillion cars zooming around it every which way!
ReplyDeleteSo very beautiful. I hope to see this for myself someday.
ReplyDeleteIt looks as if there were clear skies for the parade... what a view! Merci, Eric!
ReplyDeleteBises,
Genie
Fabulous shot, Eric! Thank you so much!!!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing shot...everyone is sure to love this one!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteBelated (Comment dit-on "belated" en francais?)Joyeuse Fete, Eric et PDP! I love the photos, the information, and (of course) France!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! I love the new view! It's beautiful. Hope you had a great Bastille Day, Eric. :)3
ReplyDelete(But is there a pic of the Eiffel Tower with the fireworks this year? I know I'm being greedy, you've done it before and spoiled us rotten. lol Thank you!)
I don't believe all this TV image stuff. Come clean mild mannered reporter Eric Tenin, admit it, you are Superman and you can fly.
ReplyDelete@Drummond. Damned. I got busted!
ReplyDeleteOh Eric! xxxxx
ReplyDeleteI second Christie's sentiment. And to think that I missed the big event by two days, but I couldn't stay.Next year...and the PDP picnic would be a definite draw.
ReplyDeleteMerci beaucoup
Cyndi
Magnifique! Just love it. Thanks Eric.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shot! I wore my french Bastille day t-shirt at work yesterday and that was the extent of the celebration.
ReplyDelete(One of the actors I was making up really loves "daft punk". I have to check that group out as I have never heard of them).
Joyeuse fête nationale Eric, en retard.
Just watched the Paris fireworks, full screen that you posted on the right side . Amazing!
ReplyDeleteI just passed by the arch with the big French flag under it and thought of your post from above like if you were flying above us!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Paris
Yes,after my comment about ET,I saw that the video of the celebration was available. I watched it.All I can say is MAGNIFIQUE !!
ReplyDeletethanks Eric
Cyndi
As to the missing First Lady in Parisforme's comment: I just read that France is having a baby soon. An heir to the throne. Oh, wait, you don't do that anymore, do you? Well, with the history of her modeling, sexy photos, etc., might the phrase be "Let them eat cheesecake?"
ReplyDeleteToo funny, Jeff!
