Quiet Sunday in the country

I spent Sunday (yesterday) afternoon at a garden party with close friends at Le Vésinet, a very nice suburb of Paris, near the Ile des Impressionnistes (an island on the Seine, where the Impressionnists used to come and paint towards the end of the 19th century). It's a wonderful area, very green, with very nice houses, which is worth visiting (easy to reach with the RER - the speed metro) if you have never been there. As you can see in this photo, life there is not too stressing ;-)

  2. OK, I really have to book that flight!! You've given us another wonderful place. Wikipedia took me from Ile des Impressionistes to Yvelines to the Allee de Justice - back to the neolithic in three clicks!! And, with the Voeckler Express making its way through all sorts of incredible French towns, it appears I'll have no choice but to retire to France.... : )

  3. I've missed almost an entire week! It ws the wrong week to miss. It's lovely catching up on your photos today, Eric. They're all wonderful, every one of them. More items on my list of things to do in Paris. If and when I get there again, I'll have to stay for months.

  4. I'm glad you enjoyed your Sunday. I saw Ile de la Grande Jatte last year, but your island is farther downstream.

I spent my evening at a block party to celebrate Bastille Day, put on by a French restaurant, Barbette. Hot as Hades, drank a gallon of water, among other things, and walked through the water sprinkler to stay cool. So, it was a fun time here, also.

  6. The texture of the leaves in the trees in the varying shades of grayscale is wonderful.

  8. AS it happens, we also went to a garden party at a friend's who has a beautiful garden (lots of benches), but we didn't see much of it as we spent most of the afternoon in a little marquee/big tent because it was pouring here yesterday as well. The company and the food were good however and I quite like camping anyway. ;)

  9. Montmartre, Le Vésinet… it seems you're being quite picky in choosing your friends. But you're right, with time and experience, one knows what's the best for him ! ;o)

  10. Even more peaceful in b&w. Do people still go there to paint, I wonder?

  11. Honestly Eric, I wouldn't mind this post in colors, too ! ;)
The B&W touch is a bit ... let's say... too grey for the summer season, but of course that's not your fault !! There's such a bad weather all over France right now. Cold and rain are forecasted for the whole week... Don't know after? But I don't really care as I'll be working.
LOL Nasty GG! In Montmartre, Eric's friend does not seem so bad...;) And we know him friends quite everywhere in the world. Is that okay Eric?!?
