Postcard worthy

So... It's August 1st and like always it's a theme day, among the CDP community. Today's theme is "Postcard Worthy" and, well, when it comes to Paris, you have the choice LOL. So I chose something typically Parisian, but with a different angle: Le Moulin Rouge. A place to see by all means - even to go in, if you can afford it - a real Paris landmark, and also the name of a fabulous movie. Like always, check what's "postcard worthy" in other parts of the world.

  1. A terrific choice, Eric! I love the angle, too.

  2. Post card worthy-- for sure-- and no doubt which country this post card represents. You set the bar high when it comes to angles and point of view!

  3. Lots of choice for Postcards from Paris - but I like this different angle of the Moulin Rouge!

  6. A great POV Eric. Of course you know that whatever you threw up today, I'd love. THank you again for opening up this great blog world to all of us.

  7. "Paris Rouge" made me think of you, Virginia.

  8. A classical choice for a Parisian postcard, Eric. Well done.

  9. I love this view! We were in Paris last March and did take a picture at Moulin Rouge... though not this angle. Fantastic!

  10. Great picture & theme. Saw this Parisian icon on my recent trip, as well as the famous Montmartre Cemetery.

  11. I am joining in the Theme Day, but am late doing so (yes as usual I know) so probably don't appear on the list, so do click my face and come and have a look at mine!

  12. I like the idea of taking a classic Paris place (or any place) and not needing to include all the name, but just getting the repetition of one aspect (the colour) echoed by another (the word) and forgetting the 'Moulin' bit altogether! Cool...

  13. Eric, I love the photo, but must confess, when I visited the Moulin Rouge area, it was my only disappointment:) Maybe I need to see it at night? I don't think it's because I'm a prude American -- because I'm not. But the buildings, the windmill -- it was all quite a letdown. But when I get to Paris, I'd visit there again just to try to get a photo like yours here:)

  14. Nice postcard, Eric! (and from the famous perspective, we see :) I wonder why they chose a windmill as their insignia? Was it because it is easy to identify? Or something to put on top of the building that no one else would have in Paris? Curious.

  16. And after all these years, she still looks fabulous. I like the Toulouse Lautrec - Moulin Rouge" (1952) film the best. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFm1LYLL_-c

  17. Typically Parisian, peut-etre, but not a typical view! Totally worthy, Eric. :~}

  18. @PHX "I'm not checking the others as I am most happy with this postcard worthy photo" No, you're lazy, that's all LOL!

@Virginia "Thank you again for opening up this great blog world to all of us." Awwwwwwwwwwww ;-)

@Trishia "but must confess, when I visited the Moulin Rouge area, it was my only disappointment:)". Yes, I can understand, even though they really made an effort lately. The mill could use a little paint job though, for sure...

@Christie " I wonder why they chose a windmill as their insignia? Was it because it is easy to identify?"
Well, there were plenty of mills in Montmartre before. One of them is said to have turned red after it was all covered with the blood of its owners (4 brothers) when the Russian army attacked them in March 1814. But I'm not really sure this is a true story ;-)

  19. Great angle and welcome to August!
July theme month was green, if I recall well? Yes I do ... So this is funny that you took this Rouge for a August theme month, which is not Red ;-) It would have been too easy ! Rouge is a color I love anyway. Exit the Moulin, the only Rouge is enough, as Sab already pointed it out. That's nice for all of us.

  20. Very postcard worthy indeed- but then as you say, Paris is spoilt for choice. I love the different angle too. There is always a new way to view an old favourite isn't there?

  23. It could also be the view of the Moulin Rouge signage that a person might see, if gazing up from the pavement, on one's back, after one's legs had momentarily given way...after one had a little too much to drink inside.

  24. I haven't been to your site in a week and started scrolling through the photos when I came across this one. It is almost an exact duplicate of a photo I took and is now on the cover of the book I made of my Paris photos. What a surprise.
