Gorgeous. Love the Deco.
Yep! That's Art Deco alright. The theme "art & technology" was all the rage and made a big come-back during the early 1960's.
A shame that there is grafitti next to such beautiful architecture....but then again, this is where they have that awful skate board ramp just adjacent as well. I believe they are neglecting this jewel...and I don't understand it. This is also the museum where many millions of Euro worth of paintings were stolen because the locks and security cameras were not working and they neglected to turn on the alarm! Dommage!!!!
Not your most exciting photograph Eric!
The front of the building looks curved, an interesting twist on architecture. Fun!
I am sure inside you can find lot of surprises.RegardsValeryBarcelona Daily Photo
Thanks, Eric, for this photo - its another peek into Paris life that many of us will never see. The building is really interesting and the shot is, too -- pulls me right in. La Ville de Paris should give you an award for all you do!!
I agree that this door is a beauty. Interesting to hear from Beau Gosse that this is near the skateboard ramp, since the shape of this building reminds me of part of the Trocadero, which is also nearby, n'est-ce pas?
Art Deco, indeed. A perfect example. I was last there just after that burglary, and the building was closed. I was disappointed, but it made sense. I wish I'd known about this museum before they lost all those masterpieces. Sigh. I found it interesting that an area with several embassies looked a little worn down and dowdy.Skateboard parks: well, they are necessary because so many people damage property--benches, fountains, stairs, landscaping walls--with skateboard use, and so it is important to provide facilities for this popular recreational activity.
Yes Beau Gosse is right about everything. I too don't understand why this area is so neglected.@Anonymous. I agree this photo is not super exciting ;-) But I really loke this door!
My wife and I recently visited Paris. While we were strolling along the Seine, stopped to take a photo very similar to this one, which brought back lots of memories.Take a look! http://bit.ly/qgHzKc
The door is very beautiful but keeping it as same like that needs some precautions and government should take interest to protect these things
